Pyramid Lake Fishing Report - Season Opener 10/3/24
It was an exciting opening week at the big lake. I've seen photos of three 20lb+ fish caught this week. Surface temps are near 70 degrees and fish are down in about 20-30 feet of water. This doesn't mean you cant find them from shore, it just means that you should consider fast sinking lines with heavy flies or deep indicator systems. There are plenty of chub at the extreme north end of the lake and those should start spreading out with some cooler weather. Large streamers and midge should continue to be good for the first few weeks of the season but smaller flies or going to be more productive as we ease into the season. The quick drops near the shore are going to be better choices until fish start moving up. The Hook Up in olive, Deep Six tui chub, Jan's Tui Chub, Spark Plug in red, Balanced Baitfish in olive, Balanced Baitfish in chartreuse, Balanced Baitfish in tui chub, Balanced Baitfish in brown, Balanced Leech in brown, Balanced Leech in peacock black, and Balanced Leech in olive are all good flies for the next few weeks.
