Pyramid Lake Fishing Report - January 1st 2025
Pyramid continues to fish excellent this season. The numbers have fallen off some but the average size fish is better than it has been in nearly a hundred years. There has been a huge jump in ten to fifteen pound fish this year. Several anglers reporting multiple fish days with no fish under ten pounds over the last month. This will truly be a season to remember. Now is an excellent time to get out there for a trophy LCT. The southern beaches seem to be fishing better than the north end at the moment. We have also seen the consistent bite shift to later in the day with the daybreak bite really becoming hit or miss. Surprisingly, larger flies continue to fish better than the little stuff. That should shift soon as we move further into winter when stripping should also outperform the bobber until the pre-spawn begins. Excellent bobber flies at the moment include the Tui Chub Balanced Baitfish, Brown Balanced Baitfish, Black Can Chaser, Chartreuse Egg Sucking Balanced Leech, Peacock Balanced Leech, and Black Peacock Balanced Leech. When stripping really starts to pickup you can rely on the Chartreuse Tadpole, Chartreuse Bottle Rocket, Black and Red Woolly Worm, Chartreuse Beetle, and White Woolly Worm to make the connection.
