Color: Black

Sizes: #6-12

The Pyramid Lake Holographic Midge is the most consistent and durable of all the midges available for nymph fishing at Pyramid. The red and black versions are responsible for more indicator take downs then any midge style fly. The 2X heavy short shank hook holds onto even the biggest fish.

Imitates: Larger chironomids/midge in Pyramid Lake.

Useful for: Fly Fishing under an indicator just off the bottom at the slow sloping beaches. Equally as effective near sharp drop-offs/ledges near the shore.

Tricks/Techniques: The most consistent colors are absolutely the Red and Black versions while the bright colors have their occasional hot days. The preferred method for fall and spring fly fisherman. Try retrieving this behind a Bottle Rocket, Tadpole or Beetle if watching an indicator isn’t your thing. Keep the depth under the indicator shallow when fishing near sharp drop-offs or when fish are visible breaching the surface during early spring mornings. I wouldn’t recommend fishing tippet lighter then 3X ever at Pyramid, sharp teeth tend to shred the light stuff.

Recipe

Hook: Orvis 62KC, TMC 2457
Bead: Silver Brass
Thread: Black Danville’s Flat Waxed Nylon
Rib: Silver Wire
Body: Black Holographic Tinsel
