Pyramid Lake Fishing Report:

Iv’e seen plenty of pelicans which tells me the spawn isn’t to far off. I’m starting to see fish in the shallows and its been confirmed that fish have entered the Truckee once again to spawn naturally. The afternoons and evenings continue to be best with more fish coming in shallow from noon to dark. The timing will change here soon as the water temps climb which should bring lots more fish in shallow.

Lots of guys at popcorn. Lots and lots of guys at popcorn which tells me fish are being caught there. Fish are also being caught from rawhide south. Try Rawhide, Blockhouse, Cattle Guard or Popcorn for afternoon success. Nets has been hot but also been cold. I’ve found the most consistent fishing at the southwest corner.

Stripping Beetles in popcorn #8, Tadpoles in popcorn #6, Woolly Worm in Midnight Cowboy and White #6, Holo Wing in Midnight and Bloody Black #4, and Bottle Rockets in popcorn and peacock black #6 have been catching. The best bugs under the indicator have been the Balanced Leech in black and rust #4, Bloody Balanced Leech in olive and white #6, Spark Plug in black and red #8, Mahalo Midge in black and red #12, and Holographic Midges in red, black and wine #10. Find all the hottest patterns in the Mimic Fly Shop, read lots more on Pyramid Lake in the Fly Fisher’s Guide to: Nevada or book a guide trip with the author.
