The Spent Blood Midge Emerger is a great pattern to fish in very low light periods early and late in the day.
Imitates: The famous GIANT Sierra Blood Midge
Useful for: Picky sippers in many of the Sierra’s and Northern Nevada’s stillwaters.
Tricks/Techniques: Blood Midge emergence typically occurs just before dark. This dry is great for fishing at dark with it’s highly visible white wing and hackle. Best fished through the hatch into the dark then again early in the morning before the sun hits the water. I like under dressing this fly in the mornings so it rides low in the water column. If it sinks on it’s own, let it sink for a few seconds before recasting.
This fly is hand tied at my own bench in the United States of America under the highest of scrutiny. A tested and proven pattern.
