Jan’s Sculpin from the Mimic Fly Shop
Imitates: Sculpin and other baitfish found on or near the bottom.
Useful for: Retrieving behind sinking lines, sink tips, and floating lines.
Tricks/Techniques: Great dead-drifted at or near the bottom and swung out slow. This pattern is great for freestone river like the Truckee because it rides point up, dives quickly, and is extremely durable. Best fished with a short stout leader less then 6 feet total length and 3x or heavier tippet. Recently I’ve caught several cutthroat at Pyramid on the olive version.
This fly is hand tied at my own bench in the United States of America under the highest of scrutiny. A tested and proven pattern.
