Jan’s Phoenix Stone is a flashy little stone nymph that has a great silhouette and is very durable.
Imitates: Mayflies and small Stoneflies including; BWO’s/Baetis, PMD’s, Sulphur’s, March Brown’s, Little yellow stones, and small Golden Stones
Useful for: The larger faster rivers in the west. Getting the flies down quickly in deep or fast and turbulent water while nymphing with or without an indicator.
Tricks/Techniques: This pattern has a slender design which sinks quickly. It rolls well in heavy water and the flash helps it get noticed. Can be very effective under larger in hopper dropper style rigs in the summer. The black version hes recently proven its worth in western stillwaters while the yellow catches in any river.
This fly is hand tied at my own bench in the United States of America under the highest of scrutiny. A tested and proven pattern.
