Jan’s Pearl Caddis Pupa pattern has become a staple in Sierra’s streams and rivers. Tied by Orvis commercially available at fly shops everywhere. Available here tied by the designer.
Imitates: Caddis Larva and Pupa
Useful for: Rivers in the west where caddis are present. Its spot on match is rarely refused especially in the colors available. Dead drifted under and indicator, high-stick style, or swung across, this fly works. The flash in the thorax is rarely refused during the late Spring through Fall when the majority of caddis are hatching. Lift this pattern infront of visible trout to imitate emergence and hang on.
Tricks/Techniques: Fished best on a floating line.I like this pattern under an indicator apposed to using a high stick method. Majority of caddis larva can be covered between the two colors and two sizes offered. Great for when the exact match is needed.
A tested and proven pattern.
