Jan’s dragon is a great multispecies fly for me. It started its life as a stillwater trout fly but quickly proved effective for Pyramid Lake cutthroat, black bass, and carp.
Imitates: Dragonfly nymphs, small baitfish, larger insects.
Useful for: Trout, bass and carp in almost every piece of water in the US where dragonflies are present.
Tricks/Techniques: If retrieved behind a sink tip or floating line the dumbell eyes help give it an amazing jigging effect while riding hook point up. when fished behind full sinking lines great depths can be achieved to to its heavy design. Long pauses between medium paced 12 inch strips allow this fly to drop and crawl along the bottom mimicking the naturals beautifully.
This fly is hand tied at my own bench in the United States of America under the highest of scrutiny. A tested and proven pattern.
