The Flashback Heavy Hares Ear is simply an extra heavy weighted bead head epoxy back gold ribbed hares ear. Highly effective on both still and moving waters.
Imitates: Mayflies, Caddis and Stonefly Nymphs. The hares ear looks a little like everything in the water.
Useful for: The larger faster rivers in the west. Getting the flies down quickly in deep or fast and turbulent water while nymphing with or without an indicator. Leave the shot at home when your flies are actually heavy enough to get down. A favorite in the darker versions for western stillwaters.
Tricks/Techniques: This pattern is the heaviest of the hares ear that I tie, very useful for high stick nymphing. This pattern rolls well in heavy water and is extremely durable. Can be very effective under larger in hopper dropper style rigs in the summer. The natural and cream versions are very productive for caddis and smaller stonefliy nymphs out west in moving water. Retrieved or hung under an indicator in stillwaters, the hares ear is a must have. Love the extra flash for spring in high off-color water.
This fly is hand tied at my own bench in the United States of America under the highest of scrutiny. A tested and proven pattern.
